Silkroad

Hello people of the MMO community! I will talk today about the MMORPG Silkroad. This game was released on 11 November 2005 by Joymax.

My First impression was that it has some excelent classes and grahpics weren't all that bad for a free game. So before playing i started with a positive idea of the game.

My positive idea of the game later got crushed. Before actually playing it was a real drag even getting into the game. I found out you actually needed a bot so the game wouldn't close down when you didn't get into the game. With the not getting in problem not the whole game was ruined. I stayed postitive and thought,If so many people play it, the game must be great. This was to my dissapointment not the case. I couln't get in cause the server was full, not with players, but with botters and goldsellers.Later the game built in that the game doesn't close down automatticly if you don't get in. But it still takes a while to get in.

When you actually get in the game, you have to create a character.First you have to choose between the chinees side and the European Side.Both have their own classes. Wich brings me to an positive side of the game. The Classes are made excelently. Their are many classes to choose from.

Chinees and European both start in their own city. The starter quests are some basics to learn the game. Where are the weapon sellers, potion sellers, armor sellers etc. After that you are let loss. You have to search for the quests yourself. The quests are showing on the mini map so it shouldn't be that hard.

Ofcourse it wouldn't be hard, if they had a better walking system. How i were annoyed by the controlls. It is almost impossible to walk with the arrows cause you will get stuck behind every tree or statue. This forces you to use the mouse to walk, wich was in my eyes not a good way of walking.

The quests in the game are all the same, Kill ** of this monster or collect ** of that from this monster. They are fun to maybe do a few times but after a while you get really bored of them. Because the quests are all the same you feel like you are doing the same thing over and over agian.

The game doesn't have a great community either in the beginning. This is because everyone you will see, will be a botter.

There is another pretty cool aspect on the game. On level 20 you get to choose between Merchant, Hunter and Thief.This is what almost the whole game is based on. A merchant carries the stuff to a certain point, the hunter protects him,and a thief tries to kill the merchant. This is a great aspect in my opinion.

It really wasn't a game for me. The idea is ok for the game but the positive aspects it has don't make up for the drag it isto get in the game. Also the way of walking was just horrible wich makes it harder to enjoy the few positve things the game shows.

I give it a weak 20% "the negative points truely overrun the few positive things"
